Alleluia! Christ the Lord ascendeth into heaven!
* O come, let us adore him. Alleluia!
Blessings on this day of Christ’s Ascension. In the not so distant past the Feast of the Ascension had long been held as one of the five major feasts of the Church Year. In the last century or so it has been grossly neglected and all but forgotten.
The ascended Lord, to whom all authority in heaven and earth has been given, ascends to His coronation, and takes His seat as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. And so begins His unending and blessed reign. He will build His Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. Our joy is not based on the news headlines or the newest evidence of our culture’s post-Christian decline. We must always look up to the One who lives and reigns forever and ever, for it is there and only there that true joys are to be found. We are and forever will be and ‘alleluia people’ living in the shadow of the Lord’s Paschal victory.
Come celebrate tonight with dinner at 6 and Holy Communion at 7.
Alleluia! Christ the Lord ascendeth to heaven! O come let us adore Him! Alleluia!
