Bp. Grote and Joplin

Dear Brothers and Sisters in the REC,

As many of you have been watching the news concerning the devastating consequences of a tornado in Joplin MO, many questions have been raised about our mission parish The Church of our Savior. We are relieved to report that no one in our congregation has been hurt. Truly the Lord has been merciful to our people.  That said, the Church building they were leasing has been seriously damaged and nearly everything they possessed has been destroyed.  I am sending the Rt. Rev. Sam Seamans, assisting Bishop in our Diocese, to inspect the damage and assess what things we might be able to do to help our brothers and sisters in this situation. He will be in Joplin on Thursday, May 26th. I should have a more detailed report shortly after that visit.  In the mean time, please be in prayer for Rev. Jon Hunter and the congregation of Church of our Savior as well as the many in Joplin who have suffered so greatly from this catastrophe.

I have established a relief fund for Church of our Savior at the Diocesan Office. This is one way we can let them know of the care and concern of their brothers and sisters in the REC.

Contributions can be sent to Diocese of Mid-America, 4142 Dayflower Drive, Katy, TX 77449.
Please indicate on your checks that this contribution is for Church of Our Savior.
Thank you for your prayerful consideration of this most needful request.

Sincerely in Christ’s Service

Bishop Royal U Grote
Bishop Ordinary
Diocese of Mid-America
