Church School – Instructed Eucharist

Dearest People of Christ the King Parish,

Here are two offerings for Adult Church School.

During Advent beginning this Sunday:

The Richness and Mystery of the Eucharist – What We Do and Why

More than a few of you have asked or expressed a desire for what is traditionally called an ‘instructed Eucharist’.  We will begin this Sunday and use as our foundational text a booklet written by Bp. Sutton for the Church of the Holy Communion  Some of the the content you will find specific to their parish and we will note those differences.  Most of it definitely applies to us and I hope you will find it useful. We think it might take four sessions which will run us up to Christmas. We will provide a ‘free’ hard copy booklet which you may keep if you choose. We think it might last four weeks:

  • Session One – Our Worship Space, Worship and the Eucharist, and pages 1-4 in the booklet.
  • Session Two – The Liturgy of the Word
  • Session Three –  Ascension and Eucharist
  • Session Four – Finish Eucharist, Worship and the Warring Church, Final Questions and Answers

In Epiphany beginning January 7, 2013

The Celtic Way of Evangelism – How the Church Can Reach the West….Again

During Epiphanytide our focus will turn on how to participate more fully in God’s mission (and, therefore, our mission) in the world, working from George Hunter’s book. We will be using the tenth anniversary edition if you wish to order your own copy. It would definitely enhance our times together if you read ahead for each session. Syllabus coming later.

The last Sunday in Epiphany (Quinquagesima – February 10th ) has been designated by our archbishop Robert Duncan as World Mission Day. Perhaps we might have a culminating activity on that day.
