Bp. Morse will ordain Dcn. Chris Herman to the priesthood this Saturday at 4:00 p.m. The ordination will take place at Christ Our Hope (3425 Valley Pike, also known as the All Season’s Banquet Center).
All are welcome. There will be a reception afterward, with food and drink sufficient to be a dinner. Dcn. Chris hopes that everyone will stay for the celebration.
This will be the first Thanksgiving for most of the refugees living in our neighborhood. Just as the Plymouth Pilgrims fled persecution and endured great hardship during their first year of settlement, our African neighbors escaped hostile conditions and are struggling to survive. The refugee ministry of Christ the King would like to make this holiday a meaningful day of Thanksgiving for them as they make their way in the New World.
To that end, the refugee ministry will be hosting Thanksgiving dinner at Christ the King on Thursday, Nov. 24th. We will be serving roasted turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, and salad. This is a busy day for most of us, but we need your help to provide side dishes of vegetables such as green beans, cranberry relish, and dessert. We are anticipating 50 or more guests so your contributions to the First Thanksgiving will be a greatly appreciated blessing! Dishes may be dropped off at CtK Wednesday evening or on Thursday. If any of you would like to join us for this special Thanksgiving celebration, you are cordially invited to do so. Please contact Pam Laughlin or Barb Harvey if you are able to contribute a dish or join us for dinner.
