The Refugee Ministry of Christ the King is in need of transportation for refugees from the church to the Salvation Army store near the Dayton Mall next Wednesday, August 24. The time is yet to be determined. We have received a very generous offer from Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church to purchase up to $300 in items for refugees during the store’s half price sale on Wednesday. If you can help, please contact Barb Harvey at 878-9826 or barbara.harvey @ gmail.com.
We are also sponsoring a clothing drive for newly arriving refugees! The neighborhood immediately surrounding our church has seen a large influx of refugees this summer, and many of them arrived with nothing but the clothes they were wearing.
The greatest need is for men’s clothing and athletic shoes, however there are a few women’s things needed as well. We are asking for gently used or new items only.
Pants – waist size approximately 30″ to 34″
Shirts – small to medium
Shirts, tee shirts and shorts are welcome, as well as trousers and jeans.
Shoes – size 71/2 – 81/2 (athletic shoes especially)
Warm winter clothing such as sweaters, hats, and gloves are needed, as well as warm winter coats sizes small and medium.
Warm winter clothing in size medium: 3 warm coats, hats, gloves, sweaters, slacks or jeans. I am unsure of slacks sizes, but the 3 women are petite and slender. I’m guessing size 6-10.
Please drop off clothing at the church in the gallery clearly marked Refugee Ministry. Thank you so much!
