Tuesday in Holy Week

Hello, Everyone  : )

Today is the day of much controversy with the Jewish leaders and the setting forth of parables.   The three synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke) all contain these things but each is different and adds more perspective.

Today he utters the terrible woes against the Scribes, Pharisees, and hypocrites. Today he proclaims the horrors of the coming judgment in AD 70 (Matthew 24, Mark 16, Luke 21).  Today the chief priests and the elders along with the high priest Caiaphas plot to seize Jesus in stealth and to kill him.

Today Jesus our Messiah King laments:

37 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. 38Look, your house is left to you desolate. 39 For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’”

Brethren, let us stay close to Him this week and journey with Him to His cross.  I hope to see you at Mass this afternoon.

May God bless us as we finish Lent together.  If you have not yet fasted you may still join in even now. It is not too late.

Rejoicing with you in his goodness,

Fr. Wayne
